Galaxy Nexus On Verizon Seems To Be Getting Android 4.0.4 Now

Last month, we started seeing signs that an update to bring the phone up to Android 4.0.4 was on its way out to owners of the fully-unlocked HSPA+ version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. At the time, there was no sign as to when owners of the LTE-enabled GNex on Verizon might find themselves in a similar position. We’re still without any sort of official confirmation, nor even mention of a date when the update might become available, but once again, there are some signs that it’s already started arriving, even if in a very limited way.

A number of owners of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon have been reporting receiving notifications of the available IMM76K update to Android 4.0.4. They can complete installation of the update without issue, but there’s no sign on Verizon’s website that any new software is available; its support pages for the Galaxy Nexus still show its most recent update arriving back in December.

It’s clear that at least some users are getting this update – many upgraded models have been spotted on-display in Verizon stores – but it’s not yet apparent just how widespread this distribution is; for the moment, it may be restricted to corporate phones. With any luck, we should get some confirmation from Verizon and see even more users get access to the update in the coming days.
