RIM BlackBerry 10 Developer’s Handset Photographed?
A recent statement by a RIM spokesperson served to dash our hopes that we might get the opportunity to see some of the upcoming BlackBerry 10 hardware at the company’s BlackBerry World conference, kicking-off tomorrow. Sure, there will looks at the operating system from the software side of things, but when we’re talking about the launch of a new platform, that’s only part of the picture. RIM did mention that it would soon have BB10 hardware for developers, but that those devices wouldn’t necessarily be the same commercial models we see launch with the OS. That doesn’t stop us from being curious about this gear, all the same, and today we get the opportunity to take a look at what very well may be one of these developer handsets.
From what we’ve heard about BlackBerry 10 so far, it’s seemed like RIM would be taking the possibly risky step of moving away from devices with the hardware keyboards that so thoroughly penetrate its lineup. Indeed, this supposed developer’s model looks more like a generic Android that anything we’re familiar with from RIM. Again, the final hardware RIM releases may differ greatly from this handset, but it could also be not that far removed. That needn’t be a bad thing, as this device, though not very BlackBerry-looking, still has a clean, utilitarian design that could be quite attractive. Suffice it to say, our interest is piqued for the reveal of actual BlackBerry 10 hardware.
