Sony Xperia U, P May Be Facing Short Delays
Sony revealed the Xperia U and Xperia P during the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, taking the design cues from the Xperia S and condensing those down into a pair of smaller models with some lower-end hardware. According to Sony, the Androids would arrive sometime during Q2, and retailers in Europe have been expecting these Xperias for May 7. It now looks like there will be a slightly-longer wait before the phones arrive, with news of the phones’ launch pushed-back to May 28.
Retailer Clove, already accepting pre-orders for the two phones, broke the news of this later date. We’re not yet sure how this delay might affect Brightstar’s plans to bring the Xperia P and U, along with the S, to the States this summer, but seeing as it hadn’t yet committed to any particular date, we likely won’t hear of any changes.
Both the Xperia P and U are powered by dual-core 1GHz processors and feature one gigabyte of RAM apiece. The P is the larger of the two, with a 4-inch FWVGA screen, while the U keeps the same resolution but goes with a 3.5-inch component. Both phones will be available in black, and while the P will get a silver color option, the U will offer white instead.
