On Monday, we heard a rumor that AT&T and HTC might be announcing the US retail launch details for the One X (XL) on Tuesday, followed by a launch later in the week. Tuesday came and went without a peep out of either company on the matter, making it appear that the rumor was busted. Little did we know that it was just off in the details, and today we finally get the official word from AT&T on just how the One X will arrive.
It also looks like those rumors about the One X hitting retail in just a matter of days was off as well. Instead of getting the phone later this week, it will arrive in a little under three, showing up on May 6. Before then, interested parties will have the opportunity to pre-order the handset beginning on April 22. On-contract, the One X will demand a price of just about $200.
The One XL may not have the quad-core chip of the international One X, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be settling; the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 should do two with two cores what other chips need four to pull off. The phone features a big 4.7-inch 720p display, runs ICS with HTC’s latest Sense 4.0, and offers Beats audio integration; despite HTC no longer selling new handsets with Beats headphones, all the Beats stuff on the phone-end is still in place should you care to pick up some Beats cans on your own.
