Out-Of-Stock Incredible 2 Could Foreshadow Incredible 4G LTE Arrival

Back in early March, we looked at a couple of rumors concerning upcoming Verizon smartphones. One attempted to assign a release date to the Galaxy Nexus, a date we’ve since learned was incorrect, while the other looked to HTC’s Droid Incredible 4G. If that half of the rumor is right, we should be hearing from Verizon regarding the phone’s launch quite soon. Considering the Nexus news fizzled, we’re not sure just what the chances of that happening might be, but there now seems to be a little evidence that the carrier’s getting ready for the DI4G, at least according to its website.

Go on Verizon’s site today looking for the Droid Incredible 2, and you will find yourself out of luck, with the phone marked as not currently being in stock. Admittedly, the site calls it a temporary outage, but it’s not difficult to read this as a sign that the carrier’s preparing to replace that phone with the Incredible 4G.

Of course, this could be totally unrelated to the Incredible 4G’s launch, but if the date we heard earlier is at least close, the timing does match-up. Hopefully Verizon will put an end to this soon when it formally announces the Incredible 4G (or will that be Incredible 4G LTE?).
