What’s this Mystery Motorola for Verizon? (Image)

Verizon Wireless is reportedly set to offer an enhanced package of pre- and post-sale services known as Verizon ON, and among the concept imagery for this initiative, we spotted an unfamiliar Motorola handset not currently offered by the carrier. While the phone (far right) seems to have the same cropped corners as the popular DROID RAZR series, its top and bottom screen bezels appear to be much narrower than those on existing RAZRs. What’s more, the manufacturer branding is not centered at the top of the face, but rather left-justified with respect to the display. Speaking of branding, however, there is a noticeable lack of a carrier logo on the front, something almost never seen on Big Red (save for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, whose white incarnation seems to be pictured on the circle in the center of the render.

Our first inclination was to associate this mystery device with the upcoming DROID Fighter — tipped for release as the DROID RAZR HD — but a supposed leaked photograph of that handset seems to portray less tapered corners. Like the alleged Fighter, however, the unknown phone seems to lack any physical buttons, making an Android Ice Cream Sandwich build very likely. It’s also possible that this image was created using an earlier render of Fighter, one whose corners were more severely cropped.

As for ON, it should be a combination of in-store elements — such as the digital tabletop kiosk represented by this image — and a website that offers post-purchase accessories as well as other products not strictly related to a particular device. Besides the website, a companion app for tablets and smartphones may also be offered, as pictured below. Apparently ON will launch with a sweepstakes wherein participants can create collections of wish list items, with entire collections being given away on a daily basis.
