Windows Phone 8 Coming to All Windows Phone 7 Devices

There has been a lot of trepidation about buying new Windows Phones now since some people have been under the impression that the as yet unannounced Windows Phone 8 might not be available as an upgrade for current Windows Phones. According to Microsoft evangelist Nuno Silva, Windows Phone 8 (Apollo) will be coming to all current phones. This revelation was recently published in a Portuguese forum called Zwame. Of course, current phones will obviously not see any actual hardware upgrades which may be supported by the new Windows Phone 8 operating system, such as higher resolution screen sizes or multi-core processors, but it’s good to hear that at least all current users will see the software improvements. This makes a lot of sense since Microsoft is all about optimizing their mobile OS these days and Nokia has been pushing for cheaper hardware support. Not making the OS run beautifully on low-end hardware and abandoning the existing user base is not something Microsoft should be doing at this point.

Have you been waiting for this news to get a new Windows Phone or are you still going to wait for Windows Phone 8 anyway?
