Samsung has finally set the date for when the world will get to formally learn about its next flagship model, the Galaxy S III. Of course, the lack of official information so far hasn’t stopped plenty of speculation about just how the phone will arrive, and we talked about some of those possibilities earlier today. With news of the big GS3 announcement finally here, attention’s already turning to the next big mystery: just how will the retail launch of the phone take place? Until we get to hear from Samsung, a few new rumors hope to take a stab at identifying some of the launch plans and hardware options.

According to an unnamed source, BGR reports that Samsung will be offering at least two storage options for the GS3, coming in both 16GB and 32GB configurations. The 32GB seemed like a given, and though we might have preferred 64GB to 16GB, at least that version will presumably be available as a slightly cheaper option. There’s no word on our chances for seeing microSD, though.

In addition to there being multiple GS3 storage options on the way, the phone will also supposedly be available in two color options: one blue/black, and one white.

As for the retail launch itself, this source says that Samsung is planning a global launch event with simultaneous events in major cities around the world. The crux of the phone’s promotion will reportedly be on the London Olympics, with the GS3 as the 2012 official phone.

Finally, despite our doubt over the chances for the Galaxy S III actually having a 1080p display, this source reiterates that claim. It may be overkill, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
