Samsung LTE-Capable R820 Headed to MetroPCS?
We’ve been seeing a lot of info on new phones come our way lately courtesy of the FCC, looking at both Motorola and LG models earlier today. The fun’s not about to stop now, and the latest paperwork to be published by the agency reveals a mysterious Samsung handset.
Frequency support for LTE bands 2 and 4 is our signal that we’re looking at a phone for MetroPCS here, which seems confirmed by the presence of the carrier’s 3G and voice bands, as well. While that’s a good start, we’re still left with plenty of questions about just what hardware we might be dealing with here.
This model is Samsung’s SCH-R820. The R810 was another MetroPCS model – the Finesse, running Brew – released back in 2009, and the R800 was the Delve on US Cellular and Alltel. Does that mean we’re not looking at an Android model here? While it would follow the trend Samsung’s been using for its numbering sequence, those aren’t hard-and fast rules; the R900 Craft is an LTE Brew model, but the R910 Indulge is an LTE Android.
Model R820 pops-up in a Bluetooth SIG document from last month, but it doesn’t offer us any useful info on the smartphone. Any guesses just what hardware we might be looking at here?
