Sprint Reveals LG Viper 4G LTE Pricing, Start Of Pre-Orders

We’ve been keeping up with a whole bunch of rumors surrounding the coming launch of the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint, as one of the carrier’s first LTE smartphones. The other LTE model that will join it is LG’s Viper 4G LTE, but in comparison we’ve been hearing relatively little about its launch plans. While we’re still wanting for an actual release date, Sprint has made an announcement today that at least begins to fill-in the phone’s launch picture, revealing pricing and the start of pre-orders.

It’s always sounded like the Viper was going to be Sprint’s budget option for LTE, and that seems confirmed by today’s revelation; on a two-year contract and after factoring-in a fifty dollar mail-in rebate, the LG Viper will run you just about $100. Pre-orders for the phone will begin on April 12.

Like the Galaxy Nexus, the Viper will arrive with full NFC capabilities, including support for Google Wallet. The Viper is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, has a gigabyte of RAM, and features a four-inch WVGA display. The phone should arrive running Gingerbread, with a future upgrade to ICS likely.

Sprint should have LTE running in Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and San Antonio by early summer. We’re still waiting on final confirmation of the Viper’s launch date, but the latest rumor has it around April 15.
