At the beginning of August 2011, Toshiba decided to drop out of the Fujitsu-Toshiba joint venture. Fujitsu made its plans public to buy Toshiba’s stake and become a wholly owned subsidiary.

As of April 1, Fujitsu managed to finalize the acquisition of Toshiba’s 19.9% ownership stake from Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications Limited. Adding it to Fujitsu’s 80.1% stake, the company now became a wholly owned subsidiary with its name being changed to Fujitsu Mobile Communications Limited.

Fujitsu-Toshiba was present on the list of Windows Phone official hardware manufacturer partners and, as such, it brought Japan’s first Windows Phone, the IS12T.
