John Sculley: Samsung Galaxy Tab, Only Serious iPad Competitor
Those who are Apple fans, or simply follow the tech industry, need no introduction when it comes to John Sculley, Apple’s former CEO who decided to come on-board as CEO and help the late Steve Jobs “change the world” instead of selling “sugar water” for the rest of his life while at PepsiCo.
In an interview with The Economic Times, the ex-CEO, now 73, said that “Apple has an extraordinary executive team” and he sees “many good years ahead” for the Cupertino-based company. With regards to the tablet market, Sculley, an iPad user himself, said that “the only serious tablet competitor in sight to the iPad at this time is Samsung’s Galaxy (Tab)”.
Whether this is really the case or not is up to the ex-CEO to decide. Apple’s iPad is selling better than Samsung’s tablets even on its home turf and with the New iPad being the best-selling iPad yet, it will be difficult for Samsung’s current (MWC) tablet line-up to change that.
On that very note, let’s not forget about other (very important) Android tablet makers, like Acer, Asus, Sony and the like (plus Amazon with its upcoming refresh and even Google’s own rumored Nexus tablet). It will be an interesting year in tablets!
