Windows Phone Gets the Green Light In China, HTC Eternity First

China is now the largest mobile market in the world and Microsoft, together with the hardware partners, are entering the game with high hopes, trying to sell some volumes. A Beijing event organized by Microsoft China marks the debut of the platform in the country, with support for simplified and traditional Chinese.

As far as the first Windows Phone handset on the Chinese market is concerned, we’ve heard of the HTC Triumph (aka Titan). According to the official wording, the first Windows Phone is indeed an HTC-made device but it is called the HTC Eternity, a name which we’ve heard several times in the past, starting as early as June of last year. Name change anyone? The phone is currently available unlocked; it will be followed by other Windows Phones from “Nokia and other phone makers this year” — just remember Stephen Elop’s promise for a March 28 announcement.
