Toshiba LT170 Android Tablet Tipped For Late March Release
Toshiba’s been coming to our attention most often lately in its role as a tablet manufacturer, with news of the AT200 heading to new markets under new names, and word of a quad-core 7.7-inch design. Sure, everyone’s got a quad-core tablet to show-off nowadays, but we’ve also seen some really interesting prototypes from Toshiba, like a giant 13.3-inch model. Today, we learn of yet another Toshiba tablet, the 7-inch LT170.
Unfortunately, the LT170 isn’t the most impressive Toshiba model we’ve heard of, with neither hardware specs nor a price that are really attractive. With a 1GHz processor, a 1024×600 display, only 512MB of RAM, and 8GB storage, you’d think that Toshiba would be able to deliver the LT170 as a budget-priced tablet. With the exception of storage capacity, the model sounds a whole lot like the original Samsung Galaxy Tab. By now, though, you can pick up a new Tab for just a little over $300, which makes Toshiba’s nearly $400 asking price for the LT170 a bit harder to swallow.
We’ve learned of the LT170 through plans for its Italian launch, which should take place in late March. We’d expect to see it available all over Europe around the same time, but there’s no word on other markets Toshiba may be considering.
