Samsung Galaxy Nexus With Sprint LTE Saunters By The FCC

We just noticed a new Samsung handset’s paperwork show up at the FCC, and one with LTE support, at that. Except, this time the frequency coverage doesn’t match-up with the bands we’ve been familiar with for the US carriers; what gives? A quick check on the phone’s model number, SPH-L700, provides the answer: the odd LTE band 25 is for Sprint’s new network, since the SPH-L700 is none other than launch model the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

As if we weren’t already convinced, further paging-through the handset’s paperwork reveals the tell-tale Sprint CDMA and EV-DO support, and there’s mention of the phone’s NFC abilities, which Sprint has already shown in-use on the Nexus with Google Wallet.

The real question now is when we might see the Sprint Galaxy Nexus arrive. It’s already seemed from some media Sprint’s produced that the phone would be added to its stable sooner, rather than later, and now the minor hurdle of FCC approval is out of the way. What we really need in order to get a sense for when the phone might launch would be an update on Sprint’s current progress towards building-up its LTE network. For now, we only know that Sprint hopes to have LTE up-and-running by Q3.
