Microsoft Reveals Official Windows Phone Tango Designation?
The upcoming Windows Phone Tango update won’t deliver changes on the same scale we saw for Mango, but Microsoft is still managing to deliver a few tweaks alongside support for new hardware options. We’ve been talking about the update by its codename Tango, but how will Microsoft officially refer to the new OS build once we see it really start to arrive? One claim out of Italy says that the corporation will deliver Tango as “Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh”.
That’s not the most catchy name, sure, but it’s nice and to-the-point; ultimately, we’ll still largely be in Mango territory, so even with these Tango changes we can understand why Microsoft wouldn’t want to push up to a new version number and just tack Refresh onto the 7.5 that users are familiar with.
This claim for Tango’s official designation comes from Microsoft’s Stefania Duico, the company’s Windows Phone Business Group Lead in Italy.
Besides support for new hardware options, including low-RAM handsets to be sold at budget prices, Windows Phone Tango will introduce enhanced MMS support, have new privacy alerts for location data, additional roaming settings, and more SIM management options.
