Amazon to Launch Two Tablets Later On This Year?
Recent rumors that need to be taken with caution say that the second generation of Amazon’s popular Kindle Fire will come not in one, but in two sizes, a 7-inch model and a 10-inch one previously believed to be a 8.9-inch tab –, and they will be launched in the second half of this year. No other details are available, but the Kindle Fire 2 is rumored to contain lower-priced internals. The same source also speculates that the shopping giant will shift their focus from E-book readers and concentrate instead on tablets. If confirmed, this should come as no, big, surprise, given the fact that Amazon already holds 14% of tablets market and shipped almost 4 million Kindle Fire units in the last quarter of the last year.
It is also said that Amazon already reduced orders for E-Ink’s e-paper products and this should be the main cause for EIH’s 4% revenues drop this month. The production of the 10-inch model will seemingly be outsourced to Quanta Computer and Foxconn Electronics.
