Sprint EOL List Shows White HTC EVO 3D, EVO Shift 4G On Way Out
Last night, we told you about the latest news regarding the next-generation of auto-stereoscopic smartphones. We’d heard of LG’s model as the Optimus 3D Max, and learned of new plans to bring it to certain carriers as the Optimus 3D Cube. With all this talk of future 3D phones, what does that mean for current models like LG’s original Optimus 3D and HTC’s EVO 3D? We haven’t heard about the Optimus 3D going anywhere just yet, but it looks like HTC’s time in the sun could be about over, with at least the white version of the EVO 3D showing-up on the latest Sprint EOL list leak.
According to the document, Sprint plans to dry-up sales of the white EVO 3D sometime near the middle of next month. There’s no mention here of similar plans for the black EVO 3D, so this decision may be more of an effort to reduce the number of options available rather than to eliminate the phone altogether. We’d think Sprint would hold-off on dropping the handset until it had another 3D model in its stable, but it could just as easily lose interest in 3D phones altogether.
Also new to the list is HTC EVO Shift 4G. This one will be leaving Sprint a little sooner, starting this month. It’s always nice to have plenty of options for QWERTY phones with a carrier, so if only for that reason we’ll be disappointing to see this one go. With its aging hardware specs, though, you’ll forgive us for not shedding a tear.
