LG Optimus VU Five-Inch Android Teased With 4:3 Aspect Ratio

Just yesterday we’ve heard of the LG Miracle, an upcoming Windows Phone offering from the South Korean manufacturer, and it looks like it’s not the only new phone the company is working on. What you see in the image above is the LG Optimus VU.

The teaser video below doesn’t give out much info about the device except for its main selling point: a five-inch screen. This would be regarded as massive if it weren’t for the Samsung Galaxy Note; however, what’s unique about the Optimus VU is the fact that it uses a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the conventional 16:9 (or similar) wide-screen approach.

Reports are indicating the phone might pack a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 dual-core Scorpion chip, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM, eight-megapixel camera, NFC, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board. There’s also an image of the phone in the wild below.

While the 4:3 aspect ratio is a rather unique one for smartphones, it will be interesting to see how the operating system and applications behave on such display. We sure think it won’t offer the best video viewing experience.
