Chinon Introduces Affordable SWIFT7, SWIFT10 Android Tablets
Android 3.x Honeycomb was the version of the Google operating system designed for tablets — that is until recently Ice Cream Sandwich came to unify smartphones and tabs. However, Gingerbread-powered tablets are not a novelty (though they’re pretty rare) from the early days of the initial Galaxy Tab. Chinon just introduced two Android tablets and they are running version 2.3 Gingerbread.
The SWIFT7 goes for $159.99 and it packs a 1.2GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, seven-inch 7.0 inch display of 800×600 resolution, 4GB of Internal Storage, and a VGA camera. The SWIFT10 costs $279.99 and features the same processor, 1GB of RAM, ten-inch IPS display with 1024×768 resolution, 8GB Internal Storage, two-megapixel front camera and a two-megapixel back camera. They both run Android 2.3 Gingerbread with “Android 3.0 alike” interface.
Gingerbread is definitely not optimized for tablets. However, it does a good job on the seven-inch Kindle Fire which goes for $199.00.
