Xvision an4 9.7-Inch Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet Tipped for Japan
With Ice Cream Sandwich out of the bag for some months now, manufacturers are scrambling not just to get updates out to their phones and tablets, but also to release some of the first hardware arriving as ICS native devices. In the tablet world, we just learned about plans for a new 9.7-inch model running Ice Cream Sandwich, the Xvision an4.
Manufactured by WSL Japan, the Xvision an4 has the same sort of 4:3 aspect ratio as the LG Optimus Vu, though here in a 1024 x 768 resolution. At this size, though, that’s not going to make for a very crisp display. The tablet will run off a 1GHz CPU, and include a gigabyte of RAM and 16GB of flash.
Even though the an4 is destined for Japan, the fact that 3G connectivity is just an option, and that the primary model is WiFi-only, should mean this ends up as a good import option. Of course, that’s going to depend a lot on price, which is one detail we haven’t yet learned. The size is bound to appeal to some people, as is Ice Cream Sandwich, but considering the hardware specs involved, we’d hope to see the Xvision an4 arrive with a price consistent with low-to-mid-range tablets.
