Sprint Confirms ZTE Optik Tablet Launch Details, Specs
A Sprint leak form late last month foretold the arrival of a refreshingly affordable Android tablet, with the ZTE Optik tipped for a launch at just $100 on-contract. Even having the information provided in the leaked document, we were missing some details about certain hardware specs, and we had reason to believe that some of those that we had heard reported were incorrect figures. Today, we finally get the whole story straight from the horse’s mouth, with Sprint confirming the tablet’s launch for February 5.
It seemed from the start that the 1,350 mAh battery figure we saw reported was a misprint, likely from someone confusing the Optik’s specs with those of an Android smartphone. Sure enough, the confirmed 4,000 mAh component sounds a lot more appropriate. The seven-inch display’s fidelity is also just about what we had guessed, in a WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution.
The Optik is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon, features a gigabyte of RAM, and has 16GB of local flash storage. Wireless connectivity is only at 3G speeds, but that $100 price tag is pretty hard to beat.
