Facebook, Twitter for BlackBerry About to Get BBM Connected?

Near the end of last July, we saw the arrival of BlackBerry Messenger 6, introducing the ability for other apps to offer BBM connectivity. A BBM connected app lets users easily share content with their BBM contacts from directly within the app in question. Since then, there’s been a growing number of apps that support the feature, but a couple big names have been missing. Now we’re hearing about plans to finally bring BBM connectivity to Twitter and Facebook.

There’s no word on just when these updates might arrive, only that they’ve been delayed numerous times so far, but it will supposedly be sometime soon. Besides the BBM integration, these updates should also both feature slightly-revamped user interfaces in the hopes of making them a little easier and more intuitive to navigate.

Considering how perfect a fit BBM connectivity seems for both Twitter and Facebook, arguably more-so than any other apps out there, it’s surprising it took RIM this long to get these updates together; even without the UI changes, we would have expected to see something like this land shortly after the initial arrival of BBM 6. Better late than never, we suppose.
