Sony ST21i Tapioca Hardware Specs Rumored
A little over a week ago, a list of Sony device names leaked out, as part of a basic roadmap claiming to outline Sony’s release plans for the remainder of the year. Since then, we’ve heard a bit more about some of the handsets mentioned, including the Nypon and Kumquat. Today we look at a rumor regarding a phone a little further down on the list, the Tapioca, not scheduled for release until July.
From the sound of these claimed specs, the Tapioca is going to be a decidedly low-end handset. Model ST21i, the Tapioca is supposedly powered by a single-core 800MHz processor, has just 4GB of flash storage, and features a petite 3.2-inch HVGA display. The camera has a 3.2-megapixel sensor, and even though the ST21i isn’t expected until July, it reportedly still wouldn’t be shipping with Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s no word on its radio capabilities.
Hardware like this may not warrant the level of excitement of, say, the Galaxy S III, but with HTC planning to scale-back its production of so many different phone models, especially the low-end gear, someone’s got to fill that gap; companies like Sony seem more than willing to cater to the needs of that budget-priced smartphone market.
