Nokia Planning Lumia 910 for May European Release?

We just spent some time thinking about the fate of Nokia’s Lumia 900, and what the future might hold for the smartphone once it’s allowed to leave the stable of exclusive launch partner AT&T. Instead, might Nokia have another, similar model ready to go for Europe and the rest of the world? That’s what we’re left to wonder now, upon hearing rumors of the launch plans for the Lumia 910.

This story comes courtesy of Eldar Murtazin. While he’s been known to provide some useful news in the past, his more recent claims have failed to pan-out. As a result, it’s difficult to put a lot of faith in this theory, but we’ll still approach it with an open mind and see if any corroboration shows up.

According to Murtazin, Nokia wants to launch the Lumia 910 in Europe this May. He doesn’t dismiss the possibility of the 900 arriving in the summer, but implies that there’s no reason to wait for the 900 with the 910 already available. That makes us think, along with the small step between model numbers, that we’ll be looking at very similar hardware.

The one spec shared about the 910 is that it would have a twelve-megapixel camera. We initially heard that the 900 might have such a shooter, but the recent UK pre-registration page instead claimed that the 900’s would only be eight megapixels.
