Windows Phone Tango to Support Devices With 256MB RAM?

We’ve heard about recent Windows Phone Tango rumors and how it will allegedly bring Start screen folders, grouping options as well as probably redesigned media control buttons. It looks like birds are also chirping about support for 256MB of RAM.

Windows Phones currently on the market, let them be wave-one or wave-two devices, sport 512 MB of RAM. With the Tango update for Windows Phone, Microsoft will reportedly offer support for 256MB of memory. We’ve already heard that Tango is aimed at reducing costs and offering cheaper devices and even saw how 8GB of internal storage has been dropped down to a minimum 2GB (alongside the camera which needs to have at least three, instead of the previous five-megapixel camera).

A Windows Phone, regardless of who is going to manufacture it, will definitely cost less and be more attractive to emerging markets if it will sport a Qualcomm MSM7x30 processor clocking at 800MHz, 256MB of RAM, 2GB of Internal Storage and a three-megapixel camera. We just hope that the fluidity of the platform will remain unchanged; the user experience should stay consistent among all Windows Phones.

Later edit and Note: Windows Phone currently requires 256MB of RAM as a minimum but, for whatever reason, there are no devices on the market with such low amount of memory. There could be several reasons to this but at the end of the day, Tango, with the revised storage and camera requirements, could support these lower-end devices emerge.
