Google has just released its financial results for the last quarter of 2011, numbers which gave CEO Larry Page several reasons to be happy. Aside from Gmail and Google+, Page was “super excited about the growth of Android”.

The earnings call reconfirmed numbers which we already heard about: there are currently over 700,000 Android devices activated on a daily basis, a number which grew to 3.7 million for Christmas. Larry Page also dropped the info that there are now more than 250 million total Android device activations and the Android Market reached over 11 billion downloads.

With reference to Google+, Larry Page said that Google managed to roll-out a new feature every day since launch, accounting for a total number of more than 200; there are currently more than 90 million Google+ users. As far as Android goes, Page calls Ice Cream Sandwich the best Android build yet by far; he also touched upon excellent devices like the new Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Regarding financial numbers, Q4 2011 revenue was 25% up from the year before ($8.44 billion), reaching $10.58 billion. Revenues of $7.29 billion come from Google’s own websites, representing 69% of the total revenue above. $5.60 billion in revenue comes from outside of the United States.

Operating income for the fourth quarter of last year was $3.51 billion GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and, as far as cash goes, “cash, cash equivalents, and short-term marketable securities were $44.6 billion”. There were 32,467 full-time employees hired as of December 31, 2011.
