Lenovo Announces S2 Smartphone, IdeaPad S2 10 Tablet
Even though CES officially starts off on the 10th, tomorrow, companies are eager to announce their products. Lenovo, the Chinese multi-national company, just launched a pair of Androids: one smartphone and one tablet.
The Lenovo S2 smartphone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a “unique Kernel-level security system to protect personal data, prevent phishing, and control network and SMS traffic”. It packs a 1.4GHz single-core processor, either 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage or 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, 3.8-inch WVGA display, eight-megapixel camera, and a 1,500mAh battery.
The IdeaPad S2 10 tablet, as its name implies, comes with a 10.1-inch screen which is IPS and of 1280 x 800 resolution. It is powered by a combination of Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It packs 1GB of RAM and comes in three flavors storage-wise: 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Also in is a radio that supports both 3G and WiFi connectivity, microUSB, microSD, and MicroHDMI ports as well as a five-megapixel main shooter-1.3-megapixel webcam combo. Comes with a light keyboard dock that “can deliver an incredible 20 hours of battery life”.
Both the S2 smartphone and the IdeaPad S2 10 tablet are available immediately in China, with a worldwide availability later to be disclosed. No prices were made public yet.
