Fujitsu Planning North American Market Presence
Japanese phone-maker Fujitsu wants to enter the North American market and bring its smartphones to the U.S. after a steady presence in its home market, aided by a close partnership with DoCoMo network operator.
Senior Executive Vice President Hideyuki Saso said that “North America is our priority market“. The company will become whole again this year after Fujitsu acquired Toshiba’s 19.9% stake in the joint-venture, adding it to its own slice of 80.1%.
“We would like to identify the right way of entering the North American market that would make use of our technology and expertise to make a steady landing“, Hideyuki Saso added. “We don’t want to be just another mobile phone. We want to be special“.
The company, which makes both Windows Phone and Androids for the Japanese market has the opportunity to become special, at least according to early indications. They had the world’s first quad-core nVidia Tegra 3-powered device on display at CES and it will definitely be shown off at the upcoming MWC. Adding to that is the unique design that is characteristic to Fujitsu phones, among which there are thin and waterproof models.
