Verizon MAP Leak Reveals Droid 4 Pricing?
After we looked forward to a rumored launch late last month, the Motorola Droid 4 on Verizon LTE failed to materialize. Instead, we heard that the phone’s release would see a short delay and may finally occur in February. We were hoping that CES would bring some answers along with it. On Monday, Motorola finally officially announced the Droid 4, but it didn’t have any new details on a launch date or price to share with us. Luckily, there’s a new leak out of Verizon that may help us fill in the blanks, providing a minimum advertised price for the Droid 4.
According to this MAP list, we should expect to see the Droid 4 go up for sale for just about $250 on-contract. At least that means the Droid 4 will be cheaper than the also-just-announced Droid RAZR Maxx, and hopefully we’ll quickly see some retail partners start offering the phone for even less.
These MAP lists aren’t much good for identifying release dates, as they tend to go into effect in advance of a phone’s release; this time the Droid 4’s price is good starting on January 10, and the phone clearly didn’t come out yesterday. For now, at least, we still don’t have a grasp on the phone’s release any more precise than possibly sometime next month.
