Nokia Lumia 900/Ace Followed By Tango-Phones In Spring: Report
Nokia is expected to launch (at least) the Lumia 900 Windows Phone on AT&T, often referred to as the “Ace”, at the upcoming CES in Las Vegas. Together with the Lumia 710 on T-Mobile, it will represent Nokia’s Windows Phone attack on the U.S. market.
But what comes after the Lumia 900/Ace? Nokia will already have three Windows Phones out there (together with the Lumia 710 and the Lumia 800). According to a recent report — treat this accordingly –, Tango-powered phones should follow soon. The Windows Phone Tango update will be able to bring lower-spec’ed devices to the market, hopefully lowering the price of such devices in order to compete with cheaper, entry or mid-level Android smartphones.
If the Lumia 710 and the Lumia 800 were manufactured by Compal Communications as ODM, Nokia is reportedly bringing the production of the Lumia 900/Ace back in-house. However, Tango-phones with the Nokia branding planned for launch in the second quarter of the year will continue to be manufactured by the ODM. This could mean that we might see some Tango-phones at the end of February at MWC. Until then we’re yet to see what Nokia and Microsoft have in store at CES.
