Nokia To Face Strong Windows Phone Competition In China
Nokia entering the Windows Phone game, while waved-off by some, is applauded by many and the first two devices to come from the Espoo-based company running the Redmond-made platform are enjoying great popularity and feedback from the market.
However, by the time Nokia Windows Phones reach the Chinese market — which recently became the largest mobile market on the planet — in the second half of 2012, the Finnish phone maker will be definitely facing fierce competition. Windows Phones made by prestigious manufacturers like Samsung and HTC will give Nokia a hard time on the market. These aside, lower-end and lower-priced devices from companies like ZTE, Huawei and Lenovo will also try to steal from Nokia’s market share, which is rather high in China.
People in the know think that Nokia delaying launches beyond the first quarter will have a direct effect in Espoo losing its competitive advantage (Samsung and HTC preparing to launch devices very soon). Also, with the arrival of Mango, ZTE, Huawei and Lenovo budget-phones will also be a factor to seriously take into consideration.
