60beat Gamepad Brings Full Analogue Game Controls To iOS
There’s no denying that any iOS device, whether it’s the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch are all great gaming devices. The only sad part of playing any game on a touch screen is when your fingers cover the players on any sports game. Touch controls are a nice idea, but for those of us that grew up with a full Gamepad, touch controls can become a sort of novelty. Sadly, all the recent attempts to provide iOS devices with a game controller haven’t been quite as functional as we’d want.
60beat has just come with a cool Gamepad that uses your iPhone’s headphone jack to provide you with Analogue controls for your game. All you have to do is plug-in the controller and the on-screen controls disappear in order to allow the game pad to function. The gamepad offers dual analogue sticks, ten buttons and your typical directional controls. It works with your iPad, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Sadly, there is a current limitation with the solution. At the moment only two games (Aftermath and Bugdom 2) support it. Let’s hope that list grows, or better yet, that this controller becomes a standard in the future. If you’re interested, it’ll cost you $50 here.
