Windows Phone Timeline Leak Shows Scheduled Tango, Apollo Plans
We’ve heard about Microsoft’s plans for future Windows Phone development for some time. Next up, we’re expecting Tango to arrive, followed by Apollo later down the line. There’s been some talk of just when those release might drop, but little in the way of anything resembling a timeline. Lucky us, then, because just such a roadmap for these future Windows Phone updates has leaked this evening, adding to the rumors surrounding Tango and Apollo.
Unfortunately, we’re not dealing with any timeframes more specific than quarters here, but this roadmap does give us some useful new information. Last we heard, Apollo was set to arrive somewhere closer to the middle of 2012. According to this, on the other hand, we’ll be waiting until much further-on in the year before it, and its associated hardware, gets here.
The leak certainly appears legitimate enough (though even if it is, dates like these are always subject to change), and the notes about the contents of these release mesh with what we’ve already heard: Tango will support cheaper, budget-priced hardware, and Apollo will bring the platform its first dual-core powerhouses.
