Spire Brings Siri Legally To Jailbroken iPhone 4

Just a couple of days ago we heard of a legal Siri port for iOS 5-powered iPhone 4 devices that is in the works, wearing the name i4Siri and now here’s another bit. Even though different, called Spire, it does the same thing: brings Siri to the iPhone 4.

Developers Grant Paul and Ryan Petrich unleashed a new tool “for installing Siri on previously unsupported, but jailbroken, devices”. Spire will download 100MB worth of data from Apple’s servers consisting of Siri itself (hence being legal) so make sure you run it while on WiFi. You can find Spire in the Cydia store but there’s a catch.

In order to successfully use Siri on your iPhone 4 you will still need to use information from an iPhone 4S to authenticate with Apple (therefore you’ll have to input your own proxy server address and also connect a 4S to it). While not an easy solution it is still a step forward for those waiting to talk to Siri on their pre-iPhone 4S.
