Sony announced the takeover of the Ericsson-owned half of the Sony Ericsson joint venture at the end of October and, while the brand will be phased out until mid-2012, questions were surfacing regarding a possible retreat of Sony to Japan.

Thankfully this isn’t the case as the company is preparing to move its London-based headquarters to Lund, Sweden. The offices in Lund are already populated with close to 3,000 employees, aside from being the official registered and legal headquarters. The London offices will be busy with sales, marketing and communication activities and there are also rumors of a possible Copenhagen, Denmark, development office.
