British Telecommunications joins the lawsuit game as the company brings Google to court for alleged patent infringements. BT asks the United States District Court for the District of Delaware for damages for “willful and deliberate infringement” as well as an injunction.

The patents in question refer to “a service provision system for communications networks”, “navigation information system”, “telecommunications apparatus and method”, “communications node for providing network based information service”, “information system”, and “storage and retrieval of location based information in a distributed network of data storage devices”.

According to the filing, British Telecom “brings this action to recover the just compensation it is owed and to prevent Google from continuing to benefit from BT’s inventions without authorization”. After Apple, Oracle, Microsoft, and eBay, BT is the fifth mammoth company to bring Google to court.
