Adobe Flash Player Gets Its Ice Cream Sandwich Support


Just a few days ago, Adobe cranked-out an update to Flash Player for Android, bringing the app up to version Ever since Adobe decided to back-off from efforts to deliver the Flash experience to smartphones, we’ve been paying close attention to just what releases warrant continued app updates. mainly dealt with stability improvements and bugfixes, but we’ve also been on the lookout for the promised update that would make Flash Player compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich. Just in time for the US release of the Galaxy Nexus, today Adobe released a Flash Player update adding support for Android 4.0.

Ice Cream Sandwich support is the only new feature in this release, build, though it does come with a few caveats. You may have problems seeking within paused Flash video, and there are some codec problems preventing playback of certain video content on Android 4.0. There’s also a priority problem that may fail to properly modulate volume levels when you get an incoming call.

If Adobe behaves as expected at this point, this is the last new feature we’ll see arrive for Flash Player on Android, and everything from this point out will be bugfixes and security-related updates.
