Top Mods for the Galaxy Nexus

If you’re running a GSM Galaxy Nexus you’re likely a power user. You probably love the device, but miss all the tweaks and mods that you had applied on your previous phone.

Luckily, custom ROMs, tweaks, and mods are starting to roll out! Not long ago we told you how to get Google Wallet working on your Galaxy Nexus, which is very cool, but if you’d like to learn how to get some of the old UI components back (like the menu and search buttons) there’s a way you can do that, too! Want to get your battery percentage in the battery icon in the status bar? Yup, you can do that, too!

First you’re going to need to OEM unlock and root your Galaxy Nexus (which will wipe everything clean), and we’d suggest flashing CWM Recovery (we’ve had the best luck doing this through the ROM Manager app). For these tweaks you’ll next need a DEODEXED ROM (the stock, ODEXED ROM won’t work).

Paulobrien seems to have put together one of the more popular Custom ROMs, and it’s reportedly working great with these tweaks. You can grab a copy of his ROM from XDA-Developers.com. Once you’ve flashed that you’ll have a solid foundation to build upon, so adding additional mods is cake!
