Lync for Windows Phone Gets Marketplace Placeholder

Lync for Windows Phone should have landed last week — that is according to rumors back then — but official wording from Microsoft Australia gave no exact availability date; instead we were told the launch should be this year.

Apparently, if you tap on a meeting request URL in Internet Explorer on your Windows Phone, you are taken to a Marketplace page for Lync prompting for a download. Evidently you can’t grab the app just yet but you can see the description and the screenshots, which usually indicated that a launch is imminent.

Microsoft is expected to launch Lync on several platforms not just only Windows Phone, including Android and iOS, to bring conferencing capabilities and several goodies for business users who want to stay connected and collaborate easily with colleagues and coworkers.
