RIM Updating Pricing Tiers for All 148 Markets Supported

With the expansion of Research in Motion’s App World to several markets (for a total of 148 at the moment) came some glitches concerning prices: for instance an app that normally went for $0.99 in the U.S. was available for £0.99 in the U.K., which just wasn’t right from several points of view.

Research in Motion announced that starting today, December 8, the company will be updating “the pricing tiers” for and in all of the 148 markets currently supported. The pricing tier update refers to refreshed “currency exchange rates and integrates a weighted calculation of purchasing power”, the goal being the maximization of revenue. The changes will be made automatically without any developer intervention needed; however, if you’re interested to see how your apps will be doing, RIM also made available a conversion chart for the new pricing tiers.
