Nokia Announces Lumia 800 Update On Its Way Out
Nokia revealed two weeks ago that it would be addressing user concerns over the Lumia 800’s battery life with a series of two updates for the phone. The first-such release was announced for December, with the second update on-target for January. True to its word, Nokia has just announced availability of that first update for the Lumia 800, including improvements to the phone’s charging system.
It’s interesting to see Nokia tackle charge-management issues with this release, as its previous statement had it looking like those improvements would be part of the second Lumia 800 update, with the first dealing more with software task management.
This release includes the 7740 Exchange and voicemail fixes, and will also supposedly bring the 800 some improved audio quality and better auto-backlight management when using the phone in bright conditions; that latter enhancement could also manifest as slightly-improved battery life.
Availability of the update is being limited to avoid overwhelming distribution servers, and it should ultimately show up for users in all Lumia 800 launch countries within the next two weeks.
