Verizon is expected to make the Samsung Galaxy Nexus available this week but according to reports, the “pure-Android” phone will not be compatible with Google Wallet. The application will be lacking support for the phone, according to reports, mainly due to Verizon.

Verizon, together with AT&T and T-Mobile are part of and heavy investors for ISIS, a joint venture for mobile payments planning to be a competitor for Google Wallet. Apparently Verizon is trying to maintain its position by choosing not to have Wallet installed on the Galaxy Nexus which will still be a “pure-Android” phone, receiving updates straight from Google.

Update: …and it’s been confirmed: “Verizon asked us not to include this functionality in the product.
