Yahoo! Introduces Hub, a Free Mobile Messaging App

Aside from the already existing Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger applications, the company has recently introduced a new software bit to join its line-up: Yahoo! Hub is a mobile messaging application that allows you to send text messages and have group conversations for free.

What seems to be great about Hub, aside from the private messaging and group conversation features, is the ability to send messages to anyone, local or international, without incurring any text messaging fees. Messages are being sent over WiFi or data connection and “Hub is device agnostic, which means you can communicate with anyone on any mobile device as long as you have their mobile phone numbers”.

The other party doesn’t need to have Hub installed on the phone in order to reply to your texts but, given the fact that Hub makes them available for free, they probably should. Hub is currently in beta and available for Google Android powered smartphones in the Android Market.

Note: Doesn’t seem to be available outside U.S.
