Ice Cream Sandwich Has A Hidden Launcher

We’ve already told you about the hidden Nyan Cat Android in Ice Cream Sandwich, but it turns out that there are even more secret treats waiting within. One apparently just discovered today offers you an alternate app launcher, but one that might be more fun than useful.

The trick to getting this version to run is the use of Android Activity shortcuts when launching the app. Properly configured, you can select a “Rocket Launcher” option that will shoot app icons towards the screen as they fly out of hyperspace. Like we said: it looks neat, but you’re probably not going to love the idea of using this as a regular replacement.

Tapping the screen will slow the icons enough for you to tap the one you want, launching your app. If you’re lost at the idea of placing Activity shortcuts, the discoverer of this trick recommends installing Launcher Pro. Even without being tailored for ICS, Launcher Pro will let you call the app in the Rocker Launcher mode desired.

It sure does look neat, but we can’t help but wonder just what the heck Google was thinking.
