Stephen Elop, Nokia’s CEO, is the man who decided back in February that the Finnish company should join forces with Microsoft and adopt Windows Phone as the principal smartphone strategy. He recently received the “Mobile Personality of the Year” award at the Know Your Mobile awards in London.

On the same note, Microsoft Windows Phone was named “Operating System of the Year” at the same Know Your Mobile Awards. The Metro-inspired interface “provides users with an easily customizable start screen, which is focused on putting people first”, integrating “the user experience to deliver smarter and easier communications, apps and Internet experiences”. Judges have noted that Windows Phone “has the most potential, with a unique interface and a rapidly growing apps selection. It has a great looking UI and doesn’t look like Android or iOS”.
