Nokia Planning Lumia 800 Updates to Prolong Battery Life
During our review of Nokia’s Lumia 800, we noted that the phone’s battery seemed respectably decent, though a far cry from outstanding. While we weren’t left with too many concerns about the phone having enough juice to make it through the day, Nokia has been been hearing from other 800 owners who just really aren’t satisfied with the handset’s battery life. In what sounds like good news for everyone, that feedback has now prompted Nokia to plan for a couple of updates targeted at curbing excessive power consumption.
The first should be made available sometime next month, and will attempt to increase phone efficiency. Cutting-down on any unnecessary processing that’s going on will theoretically help stretch-out battery life just a bit longer.
The second update addressing Lumia 800 power concerns is set to land in early January. This time, Nokia will specifically address battery management, including giving some attention to the phone’s charging cycles. It’s too early to estimate what the combined effects of all these changes will be on the Lumia 800’s battery, but for the sake of everyone who’s feeling let-down by the phone’s current performance, we’re hoping some significant gains will be made.
