Google Updates Galaxy Nexus Specs, Yanks 16GB Version?

A few days ago we told you that an update to its “tech specs” page showed the 32GB variant of the Galaxy Nexus was removed, implying that only a 16GB version of the phone would be available. The extra storage, it seemed, had been replaced with a larger capacity battery.

Today, the same specification page has been updated yet again. This time, the “16GB storage” is no more — it’s been replaced with “32GB storage”. Originally, the specs implied there would be a 16GB version and a 32GB version. Now it looks like there will only be latter — not that we’re complaining.

The other good news is that the 1850mAh battery remains — but as we’d suspected, only for the “United States” LTE/CDMA version. The “United Kingdom” HSPA+/3G/EDGE/GPRS version of the phone will only include a 1750mAh battery, but it is a little lighter, and a little smaller.

“United States” Version

Dimensions: 67.94 X 135.5 X 9.47

Weight: 150g

Battery: 1850mAh

“United Kingdom” Version

Dimensions: 67.94 X 135.5 X 8.94

Weight: 135g

Battery: 1750mAh

While the UK version of the phone has already been released, the USA version has not (we’re still hopeful for a December 8th, 2011 release). Hopefully these will be the final specification changes!

We speculate, however, that if Google/Samsung release a USA GSM/HSPA+ version of the phone it may be carrier-specific (separate SKUs for AT&T and T-Mobile), in which case we may be playing the specs game all over again for those two carriers.

Hopefully, the UK GSM version (which is reportedly a “penta-band” phone that apparently will work on either T-Mobile or AT&T with the appropriate SIM) will only vary from the (as-yet unannounced USA) GSM version by the prongs on the power adapter and the manuals in the box.

How many of you are lining up to get the UK version of the Galaxy Nexus? Let us know in the comments!
