AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich Custom ROMs Starting to Arrive
Remember when Google said the Nexus One just wasn’t up to running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? That was just shy of a month ago. Since then we’ve seen only an SDK port running on the Nexus One, but now we’ve got an AOSP Custom ROM for it, too!
… and it’s not alone!
For those who don’t know, AOSP is the Android Open Source Project, the place where you “can find the information and source code you need to build an Android-compatible device.”
It’s been a week since Google released the Ice Cream Sandwich source code to the AOSP. Seven days.
In that time we now have AOSP-based custom ROMs for the following smartphones:
While none of these builds are ready to replace what you’re currently using as your daily driver, they’re faster and reportedly more stable than ROMs based on the SDK, and will only get better with time.
