Samsung Epic 4G Gingerbread Tipped For Release Tomorrow
Software updates bringing Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the Samsung Galaxy S started heading out to users this past spring. Of course, that was for unbranded models, and all the carrier-specific Galaxy S variants have been a whole lot less lucky at getting some Gingerbread of their own. We’ve got some good news for Sprint subscribers who have been keeping the faith, as a leaked doc suggests that Gingerbread for the Epic 4G will start to go out to users tomorrow.
Gingerbread for the Epic 4G is nothing new; we’ve seen plenty of leaks of in-development software, but have been in the dark as to an official release. With reports of the phone getting EOLed, the software’s release found itself some new uncertainty, but it appears now to be fully on-track.
According to the leak, just a fraction of Epic 4G owners should expect to receive Gingerbread tomorrow. Assuming things are mostly copacetic for the three percent chosen tomorrow, availability will increase to more and more users, until all Epic 4Gs should be reached in about eight days’ time.
